The Columbus Community Wildcats will face stiff competition in their district matchup this evening.

The 3-2 Wildcats will head north for a game with the 4-1 Iowa City Regina Regals, the defending Class 1A champions. Last Friday, Columbus Community used a balanced offensive attack and the defense forced two interceptions in the Wildcats’ 47-26 homecoming victory over West Marshall. Senior Chase Finke caught four passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns as he became Columbus’ all-time leader in receptions in the victory. For the season, junior Maurico Ramirez leads the Wildcat offense with 800 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

Since dropping their season opener to Solon, Iowa City Regina hasn’t lost and has been winning their games by an average margin of 33 points. Senior Drew Cook leads the Regal offense with 1,129 total yards (931 passing, 198 rushing) and 15 total touchdowns (11 passing).
