The Columbus Community Wildcats knew they were in for a challenge in their week six matchup.

The Wildcats traveled to Iowa City Friday evening for a district matchup with the defending Class 1A state champions Iowa City Regina. The Regals shut down Columbus’ rushing attack on their way to a 52-6 victory. Junior Maurico Ramirez was held to a season low 66 yards rushing on 15 carries in the setback. Senior Austin Edwards added 30 rushing yards on eight carries and had the lone touchdown for Wildcats.

The loss drops Columbus Community to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in district play. The Wildcats will be back on the road next week as they will face Pella Christian in a district matchup.
