Grant applications are being submitted ahead of the Washington County Riverboat Foundation’s fall deadline. Four funding requests are being submitted by Mid-Prairie School District and the Mid-Prairie Foundation.

One of the foundation’s applications is for $200,000 to help build an indoor training facility near the high school. Another funding request considered by the school board Saturday is for starting the Feed the Kids program, which would send food insecure students home on weekends with a backpack filled with things to eat. The last application from the foundation is for a match of the $66,000 they’re raising. They hope to use the money to set up a grant program for Mid-Prairie teachers who want to pursue innovative projects.

The grant application the district is submitting would finance the installation of lights at their soccer field.
