Over 50 decorated pumpkins depicting characters and books are on display at the Washington Free Public Library. The pumpkins are part of the first Festival of Pumpkins and patrons have created the pieces for the contest. Director of the library Debbie Stanton explains there are painted pumpkins, one is yarn-bombed, and others are a set. She adds the event has been incredibly successful.

Pumpkins were dropped off the first week of October and will be on display through Friday, October 24th. Patrons can vote for their favorite up until Thursday as winners will be announced Friday. The contest was open to all ages. Stanton invites the community to tour the library and see all of the works of art.
