Friends of Lake Darling State Park has received an award for the role they played in the lake’s restoration. The Friends of Conservation Award was presented at the Iowa Soil and Water Conservation Society’s annual meeting in Nevada. The Friends group was recognized for their work with government agencies, watershed landowners, park users, businesses and organizations to restore the lake. A rededication ceremony was held last month, following over a decade of fundraising and grant writing to finance the $16 million restoration project.
