The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks played in their final regular season game against the Mediapolis Bulldogs. It was a game heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5, and on KCIIradio.com.

This game had post season importance for both teams and they let it out all on the line on the field. It was all defense in the first half as no one scored for the first two quarters of play.

The first drive of the third quarter Mid-Prairie converted three fourth down conversations on their way to get the first points of the game thanks to Ryan Cortum throwing to Levi Duwa in the endzone to make the score 6-0 in the thrid. They would miss the extra point and that would prove to be costly.

The score would hold until late in the fourth quarter when Bulldogs had one final shot to get the victory. With the ball at the 23 yard line with 55 seconds to go in the game Mediapolis’s quartertback Arthur Brown found Josh Osborne wide open in the endzone on a broken coverage to get the touchdown. The Bulldogs would make the extra point and that would be the difference in the game. The final score was Mediapolis 7-6 and they avoid the upset for the second straight game.

The bulldogs would clinch the two seed and will host a playoff game. Despite the lose Mid-Prairie still finds themselves in post season play. They will travel to play Albia on Wednesday in their first matchup in the playoffs. The Golden Hawks played them last year in the second round losing in that game 26 to 16. You can catch the game on Wednesday with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame show at 6:30 and kickoff at seven. On AM1380, FM102.5, and on KCIIradio.com.
