The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk football team will face a new district foe on the gridiron this week.

This Friday on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and online KCIIradio.com, the Golden Hawks will put their three game winning streak on the line against the Williamsburg Raiders, who come into the matchup undefeated. This is Williamsburg’s first year playing Class 2A football after the Raiders went 8-3 and made the second round of the Class 3A state playoffs a season ago.

Raider head football coach Curt Ritchie says as far as competiton level, he doesn’t see a big difference between 3A and 2A.

“Your good 2A teams aren’t any different from your good 3A teams.” Ritchie said, “I think there are a lot of years where the 2A champion and the 3A champion would be a very good game and would be 50/50 on who wins the game.”

Ritchie does see this week as a major challenge for his team saying as the season has gone along, he has seen a lot of development out of Mid-Prairies’s team. The Golden Hawks will roadtrip to Williamsburg this week to take on the undefeated Raiders.
