An annual event that nearly 300,000 Iowans took part in last year is returning next week. The Healthiest State Walk was started four years ago to coincide with the start of Iowa’s Healthiest State initiative. The goal is to earn that title by 2016. Last year, Iowa was ranked the 10th healthiest state in the country in the Gallup-Health Well-Being Index. According to Lynn Fisher, Washington County Public Health nurse, Washington’s event in 2013 drew 3,700 people to the downtown area. This year’s walk will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
