A Healthy Relationships Summit will be held tomorrow in Washington as October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. One in three women and one in four men have experienced physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime. Tomorrow’s summit will include a panel discussion at noon with a survivor of domestic violence, intervention program staff, Department of Human Services staff and Washington County Sheriff’s Office personnel.

Also, a film titled “Making Marriage Work” will be held at 1:30 p.m. At 4 p.m. Students will be able to take part in a friendship quilt and teens will be able to watch “Perks of Being a Wallflower” followed by a group discussion.

Debbie Stanton, Director of the Free Washington Public Library, says, throughout the month of October Washington County residents are encouraged to wear purple to support survivors of domestic violence.
