The City of Kalona is assisting a mobile home park prepare for future flooding. At this week’s city council meeting, it was decided that the city would cover 50% of the cost of a project Meadow Brook Mobile Home Park plans to start in the coming weeks. Park management is having two new storm sewer lines installed and some pavement work done to address the drainage issues they’ve had in the past. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says the up to $41,000 the city is making available is meant specifically for projects that benefit Low to Moderate Income housing. The money comes from revenue made through their Tax Increment Financing.
