The grape harvest at a vineyard outside of Keota is complete. Co-owner of Wooden Wheel Vineyard Mike Vincent says they’ve already begun the process of turning this year’s harvest into wine.

While it was great for most producers, the wet summer we experienced was not ideal for many vineyards in Iowa. Mildew and funguses that attack grapes thrived in the moist conditions. Vincent says the problems caused by the above average amount of precipitation cut their expected harvest by 25%.
