An educational event is being held at a local farm this afternoon. Today’s forestry field day is being hosted at the Jerry Rediger Farm located outside of Kalona on Kiwi Avenue.
The program at 1 will go over the history of the farm, as well as when and how to prune or thin plantation trees. The tour that’s going to follow will highlight a unique strip method utilized at the Rediger farm called direct seeding. An ISU Extension Forester, Iowa DNR District Forester Ray Lehn and landowner Jerry Rediger are a few of the instructors for the field day.
The event is open to anyone interested. Registration begins at 12:45. For more information call the Washington County Extension Office at 653-4811.
