The Lone Tree Lions’ volleyball team resumes regional play this evening at home.The 10-17 Lions host tonight’s Class 1A Region 7 tournament semifinal against the 33-7 New London Tigers.
Lone Tree advanced to the regional semifinals by sweeping Rivermont Collegiant (25-11, 25-16, 25-11) and the Iowa Mennonite School (25-14, 25-16, 25-22). New London made it to the regional semifinal by sweeping Harmony (25-2, 25-11, 25-5) and Burlington Notre Dame (25-15, 25-12, 25-23). The Tigers will look to extend their season long winning streak to 16 matches with a victory over Lone Tree this evening.
The Lions are led offensively by sophomores Elena Sieverding (157) and Liz Dodson (112), who each come in with more than 100 kills on the season. Junior Hailey Comer is four assists away from collecting 300 on the season. Defensively, Dodson (301), senior Makenzie Reynolds (223), and Sieverding (211) are the Lions who have dug up more than 200 balls this season.
The winner of tonight’s regional semifinal advances to the championship match Wednesday evening in Lone Tree. Tonight’s match between the Lone Tree Lions and the New London Tigers serves at 7 p.m. in Lone Tree.
