The Mid Prairie Golden Hawks went to play in a crucial district showdown against the Central Hawks for potential seeding for the playoffs. As heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIradio.com. The game was a low scoring game thru out with Central Lee striking first with a field goal on their first drive to make the score 3-0 Hawks. That Golden Hawks held them to only three points until the thrid quarter when Hawks quarterback Garrett Holtcamp scored on quarterback keeper to make the score 9-0 after a miss extra point.

The key turning point of the game is in the start of the fourth quarter when Golden Hawk Junior Nolan Fasselt took the punt return and ran down inside the five yard line to set up a potential touchdown. Unfortunately the Golden Hawks had eight tries inside the five yard line to get in the end zone and were unable to convert. The Golden Hawks would remain scoreless well into the fourth quarter but a fumble from the Central Lee Offense gave the ball right back. With a short field Mid Prairie was able to score with Ryan Cortum rushing the ball to make the score 9-7 Hawks with under four minutes to go in the fourth. Central Lee got the ball back and almost milked the clock all the way down until on a third down they fumbled the ball and Mid Prairie was able to recover. Mid Prairie had the ball and just needing at least a field goal to pull ahead. The offense would stall as they would turn the ball over on downs and Central Lee was able to running the clock all the way down to seal the victory.

The final score was Central Lee 9-7 over Mid Prairie. Central Lee now (5-2)(2-3) in district play will travel to play the Williamsburg Raiders in their final district game. The Golden Hawks now (3-4)(2-2) will look to bounce back next Friday as they travel back home for Senior night where they will play the West Liberty Comets.
