The Mid Prairie Golden Hawks played their final game at home on Senior night against the West Liberty Comets. It was game the was heard on AM1380, FM102.5 and on KCIIradio.com.
The Golden Hawks needed this win against the Comets to help assure a spot in the playoffs and they just that. On the first two drives they scored two touchdown runs with Austin Slabaugh scoring both making the score 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The score would stay that well into the second quarter until Slabaugh scored on his third touchdown of the game making the score 21-0. Then the Golden Hawks scored on a Ryan Cortum touchdown pass to Colin Weber to make it 28-0 going into half.
Both teams would exchange scores off and on through out the game but the Golden Hawks stayed well ahead all game. The final score was Mid Prairie winning 55-28. Mid Prairie senior Austin Salbaugh had his best game of the year on senior night with 20 carries 185 yards and four touchdown runs.
Thanks to the win Mid Prairie record is (4-4) and (3-2) in district play. The win also helps out in the playoff race as the win pretty much assures them for post season play.
The Golden Hawks will travel to play the (7-1) (4-1) Mediapolis Bulldogs for their final district and regular season match up.
