Plant bulbs now to grow gardens in the spring. Tulips, daffodils and other spring-flowering bulbs should be planted in October, as this gives the plants enough time to establish root systems for spring growth.Tulips and daffodils should be planted six to eight inches deep while crocuses and grape hyacinths should be three to four inches deep. Bulbs can be planted as late as November and early December if the ground is not frozen.

Keep in mind when planting bulbs, tulips perform best with at least six hours of direct sun each day.
