Individuals who ran across southern Iowa as part of an American Cancer Society fundraiser were greeted by Sigourney School District students. The ten men were raising awareness and donations for Coaches vs Cancer of Knoxville by running a combined 245 miles.

Last Thursday, half the runners began their trek to Knoxville from Muscatine on Highway 92. That group ran through Washington, Ainsworth and Sigourney. According to one of the runners, Greg Higginbotham, they were welcomed in to Sigourney by the school’s cross country team. He adds the team took them through town past the High School and Elementary School where students lined the street to cheer them on.

They met up with the other group, which left from Council Bluffs, in Knoxville on Friday. The Knoxville Coaches vs Cancer program raises more money for the American Cancer Society than any other high school in the country.
