One of the biggest Leo Clubs in Iowa helped with the fall cleanup in Wayland yesterday. The roughly 40 WACO students raked leaves and cleaned residents gardens.

Leader of the group and WACO teacher, Carole Martins, says it’s a junior Lions Club. They help out the Lions chapters in Wayland, Crawfordville and Olds when they hold fundraisers such as soup suppers. The students who chose Leo Club Volunteerism as their Friday option under the school’s 4+1 schedule volunteer in those cities, but also in Washington. Martins says they’ve volunteered at the UP Home, Paws and More Animal Shelter and the Washington County Extension Office. Any organization with volunteering opportunities is encouraged to contact Martins at WACO High School.

She adds the twelve year old club was the biggest in Iowa last year.
