The Iowa Mennonite School’s cross country team participated in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference meet Thursday evening. The conference meet took place at Indian Hills Golf Course near Wapello. The top 15 finishers from the girls and boys meet would make up the All Conference team.

In the boys meet, IMS senior Kirby Shelter finished with a team best time time of 17:38 and finished 11th overall in the meet. Pekin won the team conference championship with 80 points. West Burlington finished in second with 94 points, followed by Louisa-Muscatine with 96, Highland with 126 and Mediapolis rounds out the top five with 127 points.

In the girls meet, Senior Riley Schmieder finished with a team best time of 16:14, and finished the meet with the fifth best time overall. Fellow senior Renee Buckwalter also earned all conference honors with a run of 16:57, good for a 13th place individual finish. Pekin won the team title with 38 points. Mediapolis finished a distant second with 64 points, followed by Wapello with 140, Columbus with 192, and Louisa-Muscatine rounded out the top five with 198.

The IMS cross country teams will compete next at Waterworks Park in Fairfield next Thursday, October 16. They will also be competing in the 1A state qualifier races in Solon Thursday October 23 starting at 3:30 p.m..
