Washington County’s unemployment rate did not change from August to September, while surrounding counties experienced slight increases. Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk and Louisa counties all had increases in unemployment from August to September, though the figures are not seasonally adjusted. Washington’s remained unchanged at 3.4 percent unemployed, or 400 people. The state’s unemployment rate went from 4.5 percent to 4.6 percent.
