Washington Community School District has increased the number of students open enrolling into the district despite the overall enrollment falling. Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen announced 1,760.08 students are enrolled this year, a decline of 24.23 from last year. Jorgensen adds this is the first drop the district has experienced in the last five years. There was also a drop of five students from 96 to 91 in pre-school.

Open enrollment into the district increased by 16 percent, or 12 students, while the open enrollment out remained steady. Also, the Supplemental Weighting increased by 13 percent, which is due to the Kirkwood Regional Center.
