The Winfield-Mount Union football team ran into another tough challenge Friday night. The Wolves traveled to Pekin for a district matchup with the undefeated Panthers. It was another tough night offensively for the Wolves as they could only generate 114 yards of total offense as Pekin finished the season undefeated with a 43-6 win over Winfield-Mount Union. The loss drops Winfield-Mount Union to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in district play.

The Wolves did receive the district’s fourth seed and are being matched up in the first round with undefeated Maquoketa Valley Wildcats . Head football coach Scotty McCarty says the Wildcats have one of the best running backs in the state in senior Ryan Parmley.

” He is a big guy, he is fast, he is strong, he has got some shake to him.” McCarty said, “He is going to be a handful.”

Parmley leads the state of Iowa with 2476 yards and 37 rushing touchdowns. The 1st round matchup between Winfield-Mount Union and Maquokata Valley kicks off Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Maquokata.
