For clinching their first postseason appearance in several years, the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves’ football team was rewarded with an opportunity to try to stop the best running back in the state.

The 5-4 Wolves are on the road this evening as they open up postseason play against the undefeated Maquoketa Valley Wildcats. Entering tonight’s action, Wildcat senior running back Ryan Parmley is leading the state of Iowa in all classes in rushing yards (2476) and touchdowns (37).

Winfieldd-Mount Union head football coach Scotty McCarty says trying to contain Parmley will be challenging. “He is a big guy, he is fast, he is strong, he has got some shake to him.” McCarty said, “He is going to be a handful.”

In order to pull off a potential upset, the Wolves will need to produce more points on the scoreboard. Winfield-Mount Union has scored six points combined in the Wolves final two losses to Van Buren and Pekin. The first round playoff game between Winfield-Mount Union and Maquoketa Valley takes places at 7 p.m. tonight in Maquoketa. Listen to KCII tomorrow for results from the game.
