The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves volleyball team took part in the New London Volleyball Tournament this past weekend.The Wolves were matched up in pool play with the West Burlington Falcons, the Highland Huskies, and the Harmony Rockets. The Wolves started the tournament with a straight set win over West Burlington (21-11, 21-12). In match two of pool play, the Wolves would make quick work of Harmony (21-7, 21-4). In the pool play final, the Highland Huskies pushed Winfield-Mount Union to three games but would fall (18-21, 25-23, 19-17). Winfield-Mount Union would win the pool and faced WACO in the tournament semifinal.

The Wolves would knock the Warriors out of the tournament in straight sets (25-23, 25-16), and would set up a championship match with New London. The tournament host would prove to be too much for Winfield-Mount Union as the Wolves fell in straight sets (25-14, 25-14).

Seniors Lou Krieger-Coen and Nicole Escher had a team high 26 kills each for the tournament, while junior Caitlin Jamison led the way with 69 assists for the tournament. The Wolves now sit with a record of 20-9 overall and 5-1 in Southeast Iowa Super Conference play. Winfield-Mount Union will be back in action Tuesday hosting a conference match with the Lone Tree Lions.
