A coroner has identified the remains of the occupants of a plane that crashed in Ohio last Thursday after stopping at the Washington Municipal Airport. The pilot of the aircraft was 59-year-old Dr. Michael McCarty of Grand Island, Nebraska. The passengers, 65-year-old Wayne Weiss and his wife 62-year-old Rosalee Weiss, were also from Grand Island.

Family members have told authorities that McCarty was traveling to New Jersey to visit his daughter, and the couple was vacationing. The families also confirmed that Michael and Wayne were friends and experienced pilots.

Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are in the process of determining what caused the crash.
