Currently ranked sixth in the nation for her division a Washington teenager will be competing in Iowa City next weekend. Fifteen-year-old Alijah Beatty is ranked nationally for 15-16 girls USA Cycling Cyclocross points. The Iowa Mennonite School student will be taking part in next week’s UCI Carousel Volkswagen Jingle Cross Rock at the Johnson County Fairgrounds, a race that attracts competitors from across the United States and overseas. Cyclocross is a combination of mountain biking, road and criterium racing. Participants cycle the off-road course and for some obstacles carry their bikes.

Earlier this season Beatty won the Snake Alley Criterium in Burlington, placed fifth at the National Road Race Championship, sixth in the time trial, eighth in the national criterium championship and raced the Tour of Rimiski in Quebec, Canada.

KCII will bring you results next weekend for Beatty as they become available.
