Three counties want out of RUSS, Regional Utility Service Systems, and this week Washington County Supervisor Jack Seward reported the group has started discussions to permit the exit. Washington, Mahaska and Wapello counties have voiced the desire to leave the quasi-governmental organization. Seward explained discussions regarding how to exit, what it would cost and the possibility for an agreement to leave began.

Seward added the goal of the RUSS board seems to be to find a solution that would allow a project to begin for Mooar-Powdertown in Lee County. KCII News will provide more information as it becomes official.
