A Mount Pleasant man is facing several felony charges in connection with burglaries that occurred over the weekend. Sunday afternoon at roughly 1:30, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene of multiple burglaries in the 1100 grid of 233rd Street in Mount Pleasant.
A search warrant for a house at 2435 Sugar Shack Lane was obtained following their investigation. When officers arrived to conduct the search, the occupant of the home, 39-year-old Barry Wilson, was armed with a shotgun and resisted arrest, but was eventually subdued. During their search, officers recovered items including firearms stolen during the residential burglaries. A narcotics search warrant was also executed which led to the discovery of a marijuana grow operation, pounds of marijuana and different forms of methamphetamine.
Wilson was taken into custody and charged with seven felonies: trafficking stolen weapons, going armed with intent, 2nd degree burglary – while armed with a dangerous weapon, 2nd degree theft, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, drug tax stamp violation and parole violations from a prior meth manufacturing conviction. He’s currently being held at the Henry County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Officers also arrested 34-year-old Jackie Wilson. Her felony charges include possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and drug tax stamp violation.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Jefferson County/Fairfield Police Department Tactical Team, Mount Pleasant Police Department, the Iowa Department of Corrections High Risk Parole Officer and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Further arrests and charges are expected in this case.
