The Highland girl’s basketball team went 15-9 last year and look to continue that success going into this basketball season.

Highland Coach Jodi Fink leads a team that is bringing back their top six scorers from last year.

One is senior Chelsey Lampe who was a first team all conference player last year with an average of 11 points per game. The Huskies also have junior Cheyanne Adamson back, she was a second team all conference player with a 14 point per game average.

A couple of other returning players were honorable mentions last year. One was sophomore Kelsey Hora who shot 81 percent from the free throw line and junior Bridget Murphy who averaged 6.5 points per game.

The Highland Huskies played their first game last night a conference oppenent against the Winfield -Mt.Union Wolves at Winfield. The game was close at halftime with the Wolves up at halftime, 30-23. It was all Huskies in the second half as they would outscore Winfield- Mt.Union, 36-9 . Highland pulled the victory over Winfield-Mt.Union, 59-39. Adamson led the team with 20 points to finish the game. The Huskies next game is at Louisa-Muscatine next Tuesday on December 2nd.
