An increased presence of law enforcement is on Iowa’s roadways this holiday weekend. The Iowa Department of Pubic Safety’s Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau and law enforcement officers across Iowa are teaming up for a Special Traffic Enforcement Program this week, through Sunday. Motorists are reminded to buckle up. Last year in Iowa, there were 317 traffic fatalities with 107 not restrained by a seat belt and 77% of those ejected from a vehicle during a crash are killed.

Be safe this Thanksgiving holiday week and remember to buckle up, slow down and drive defensively.
