The Mid-Prairie girls basketball team is coming into this year with high expectations. The girls last year finished with an 11-10 record and have a good portion of last year’s team coming back.
Coach Stephen Bender mentioned that this team is well ahead of schedule than this time last year. “The girls know my stuff so it’s not all new to them as we start practices this year and definitely well ahead than we were this time last year,”

One player that was a big contributor last year was Taylor Kurtz who nearly averaged a double double and was named first team All-River Valley last year. Bender has high praise for his post player, “She is going to be one of the top posts in the state. She has really worked her outside game over the summer.”

One of the strengths going into this season is Mid-Prairie’s depth with Bender saying that they will rotate 10 to 11 girls on the court. Mid-Prairie’s first game is on the road against Fairfield Monday.
