A multi-million dollar project in Washington has had to relocate due to state regulations. The $5.8 million low and moderate income apartment project with Overland Properties has had to change sites within the City of Washington to qualify with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development restrictions.

City Administrator Brent Hinson states in a memo to the city council that the developer received information that the project may go on at West Tyler and South Avenue E, instead of the original location off of West Monroe Street.

The council will discuss the requested move at Tuesday’s city council meeting, as the Iowa Finance Authority must receive a proposal with the City’s support by December 1st for the project to continue. If constructed the complex will offer 32 low to moderate income apartments.
