The Pekin Panther football team had several selections for the all-district team this season.The coaches of Class A’s 5th district gave the Panthers’ nine first team all-district selections.

Headlining the group offensively is sophomore Trevor Northup, who was picked as the first team all-district quarterback. Northup finished the year with 1765 passing yards,  20 touchdown passes, and just one interception. He also rushed for an additional 318 yards and nine touchdowns.  Joining Northup on the first team offense is junior running back Chase Copeland. Copeland collected 1166 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns this season for Pekin. Two of the lineman blocking for Northup and Copeland also made the first team all-district offense. The linemen were seniors Logan Lamb and Kyle Miller. Rounding out the offensive selections for the Panthers is junior wide receiver Keaton Winn. Winn finished the 2014 season with a team high 21 receptions for 598 yards and seven touchdowns.

Pekin senior Tanner Adams was named the district’s co-defensive player of the year. Adams led the Panthers in tackles for loss (14), sacks (4), and finished second on the team in tackles (71).  Other Panther selections on defense included senior Matthew Jones being picked as an all-district defensive lineman. Jones finished with 53.5 total tackles, three for loss, and a sack during the 2014 season. Senior Cole Reighard made the all-district first team as a linebacker. Reighard finished the 2014 season the team leader in tackles (92) and had a team leading five interceptions, two being returned for touchdowns. Senior Colton Lanman also made the all-district team as a linebacker. Lanman finished with 35 total tackles, seven for loss, and two sacks in 2014.

Finally, two Panthers were named as all-district utility players, one on offense and the other on defense. Senior Christian Wittrock represented Pekin as the offensive utility player. Wittrock ended the 2014 season with 538 yards of total offense, scoring 10 total touchdowns. Junior Ryan Swanson was named as an all-district defensive utility player. Sawnson finished with 33.5 total tackles, a sack, and an interception in 2014.

The Pekin Panthers finished the 2014 season with a 11-1 overall record, ending their season in the quarterfinals of the Class A playoffs.
