The Sigourney-Keota football team had multiple players receive high praise from their 2014 opponents.

The coaches of Class 1A district six just released the players on this season’s all-district team, and nine Cobra players are apart of the various teams.

The Cobras are highlighted on the team by senior JC Dumont and junior Peyton Crawford. Dumont is the district’s most valuable defensive lineman, while Crawford is the district’s most valuable offensive player. Dumont made 17.5 total tackles, one assisted tackle for loss, and had a fumble recovery. Crawford rushed for a district leading 1,708 yards and tallied 22 rushing touchdowns. Crawford also caught 13 passes for 225 yards and three additional touchdowns.

The other Cobra first team selection is senior Cole Streigle as a linebacker. Streigle had 39 total tackles, and two tackles for loss.

Sigourney-Keota had three players placed on a the all-district second team defense. The selections included senior Nate Owen at defensive end, junior Nate Sieren at defensive back, and Lane Boender at linebacker.

The Cobras round out their all-district selections with three offensive linemen named honorable mentions. They include senior Gage Greiner, junior Zeb Webb, and sophomore Noah Boender.

Sigourney-Keota finished the 2014 season 5-5 overall, which included a Class 1A postseason appearance.
