The Skilled Iowa Initiative is officially supported by the Washington County Board of Supervisors. The supervisors approved the official letter of support at yesterday’s meeting with a unanimous vote. The National Career Readiness Certificate is part of the Skilled Iowa Initiative and is an assessment provided to anyone free of charge.

The NCRC shows a person’s skill level in the areas of reading and mathematics and is a tool potential employers can use in the hiring process. A number of businesses in Washington County already use this as a tool including Modine Manufacturing, Bazooka Farmstar, the City of Washington and Riverside Casino and Golf Resort among others.
