The Washington Demons football season came to an end Friday evening in Pella.As you heard on AM and FM KCII and KCIIradio.com, the Demons couldn’t stop the Little Dutch rushing attack as three Pella players rushed for over a hundred yards in a 31-14 victory.

After rushing from 200+ yards the past four contests, senior Jacob Hennigan was held to 110 yards rushing and one touchdown. Senior Daryn Sebelius had a tough finale in a Demon uniform. The Little Dutch held Sebelius to 30 yards rushing yards on 18 carries, and forced him to throw his 10th interception of the year in the setback.

After a scoreless first quarter, the two teams combined to score 42 points in the second quarter as Pella led 28-14. The only score in the second half came off the leg of Pella senior Seth Johnson. His 45 yard field goal with 9:48 left in the fourth made the score 31-14, the eventual final score.

The loss ends the Washington Demons’ 2014 season at 8-4 overall, and snaps the Demons six game winning streak. Pella improves to 12-0 overall, and advance to play Cedar Rapids Xavier (9-3) in the Class 3A semifinal game Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
