Fresh off their first postseason appearance in years, the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves’ football team was recognized with several selections to the all-district team. The coaches of the Class A District 5 released their first and second team selections earlier this week, and squads included seven Wolves football players.

First team selections include senior offensive lineman Kyle Davis, and junior linebacker Sam Jennings. Jennings finished second in the district with 100 total tackles, 74 being solo tackles.

The Wolves placed several student athletes on the all-district second team. The selections for the squad included senior running back Thayne McElhinny, senior wide receiver Keaton Pallister, senior lineman Colton Hinke, junior quarterback Kolt Rossiter, and junior offensive lineman Matthew Niebuhr.

McElhinny led the Wolves with 830 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Rossiter threw for a team leading 1046 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. Pallister led the Wolves with 16 receptions for 284 yards and 5 touchdown catches.

The seven players helped Winfield-Mount Union’s football team achieve a 5-5 overall record, a two win improvement from last year, and clinched a postseason appearance in 2014.
