A $400,000 gap in funding for the new Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center is being chipped away with donations. The funding gap needs to be closed by February, as a 90-day period to raise the money was announced by the Vision Iowa board in November, when they announced an $800,000 grant for the project.

Jan Gallagher and Bob Youngquist with the auditorium project explain that donations can be in the form of stocks, grain and livestock, as well as monetary.

The total project cost is just over $7 million and is funded in part by the City of Washington, a $1.1 million bond, and a $2.5 million grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. For more information about the project or to donate click here.
