A boil advisory remains in effect for a portion of Kalona. The advisory was issued on Tuesday after a water main broke near the BP gas station on Highway 1. A mobile home park, and approximately 40 homes on B, C and D Avenues are advised to boil their water before ingesting. This is due to the possibility that contaminants made it into the system when the main broke. Two separate water samples taken 24 hours apart need to test clean of bacteria before the advisory can be lifted. According to City Clerk Karen Christner, the second test was sent to the State Hygienic Laboratory yesterday.
