A Columbus Junction man is in custody for kicking a police officer. At around 3pm Friday, Iowa City Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male that was causing problems in front of the Sports Column, a bar he had been thrown out of earlier that afternoon.

When officers arrived to take 31-year-old Jody David Vedepo into custody, he was uncooperative and had to be physically carried to the squad car. Once the suspect was in the squad car, he began kicking at the officers, striking one of them in the thigh.

Vedepo is charged with two aggravated misdemeanors including assault causing injury to a peace officer and two serious misdemeanor charges of assaulting a peace officer.
