After a tough start to the conference season Friday evening in Keokuk, the Washington Demon boys’ basketball team (1-4 overall; 0-1 conference) looks to end the 2014 portion of their schedule on a positive note. The Demons welcome the Marion Indians (5-2 overall) to Washington High School for non-conference matchup in the final game of the year for both squads.

Washington looks to put their previous performance behind them, a 77-33 setback to the Keokuk Chiefs Friday evening. Junior guard Derek Anding once again led the Demons in scoring with 11 points, the only Washington player to score in double figures in the game. Junior point guard Jack Giardino came off the bench to score seven points, making five of eight free throw attempts in the setback.

Marion enters the game on a two game winning streak. Their latest victory came Friday in against Vinton-Shellsburg, a 52-32 triumph in Marion. These two teams met last season with Marion winning 48-38 at home.

The varsity boys’ contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Washington High School. Live play by play coverage begins with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame show at 5:45 p.m. for the girls’ game on AM and FM KCII and KCIIRadio.com.
