The Mid-Prairie School Board has expressed interest in offering an early retirement package.School Board President Jim Cayton says the incentives would be a one-time stipend of $5,000 or the payment of up to $540 a month in health insurance premiums until the recipient is eligible for Medicare.

The matter is now a mandatory subject of bargaining, a change from when the incentives were last offered in 2012, so before the package can be offered, Superintendent Mark Schneider will have to sit down with and get approval from the bargaining committee.
