Efforts are underway to raise $400,000 to close the gap in funding for the new Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center. The clock is ticking, as the funds need to be raised in a 90-day window which closes in early February to secure the full $800,000 grant from the Vision Iowa Board.

Jan Gallagher and Bob Youngquist with the auditorium project explain that donations can be in the form of stocks, grain and livestock, as well as monetary. The 700-seat facility will be constructed on the southwest side of the Washington High School, but would be open to the community for use. The total project cost is just over $7 million.
