The Iowa Mennonite girls basketball team ended the first half of their season on a high note going into winter break. IMS was 0-7 heading into their match up with Winfield-Mt. Union last Saturday and got their first victory of the season 43-37. Coach Aaron Gingerich says that it was one of the best performances from his team, “I thought we really had the best basketball of the season in the second half of the game.”
So far this season Riley Schmieder is leading the team averaging 13.3 points per game and making half of her shots. Behind her is Hannah Miller with 11.3 points per game and is 74 percent from the free throw line. IMS will not play until Tuesday, January 6th, at Lone Tree.
