The Iowa Mennonite School boy’s basketball team played Highland in the battle of unbeatens last night. It was a game heard on AM1380, FM 102.5, and on KCIIradio.com. IMS pulled off the victory at home against Highland 62-61.

IMS was led by Eli Gingerich who had a critical layup in to go up by four with under 30 seconds left in the game. IMS nearly had a mishap with under two seconds left in the game. Up 62-59 IMS’s Kirby Shelter missed the first free throw of a 1-1 and Highland was fouled trying to shoot a desperation three. With no time left Highland had a chance to send the game into overtime, but Highland’s Trent Lasek made only two of his three free throws.

IMS now 3-0 in the season will stay at home and will play Columbus Junction on Friday night. Highland falls to 3-1 and will play at Pekin this Friday.
