People can now access free wireless internet in all of downtown Washington through the Washington Public Library’s free wireless signal. The project was funded by a mini-grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. The wireless signal is a free service and is an open network, which is not inherently secure.

Director of the library Debbie Stanton announced the library has chosen to offer wireless access in Washington’s Central Park to help strengthen community events in the downtown district. Also, the library provides wireless internet access to give access to its digital collection, even when the physical library is closed.
