The 40th Annual Live Animal Christmas Play will be held in Washington this weekend. The Southeast Iowa holiday tradition is held at the Marion Avenue Baptist Church. The play tells the story of Christmas from a marketplace in Nazareth to a manger in Bethlehem with music and drama.

The play features camels, reindeer, llama, sheep, goats, cows, donkeys, chickens, a red tail hawk, dogs, a pig and more in the church during the eight performances.
