The Regional Utility Service Systems, or RUSS, board met Wednesday and no action regarding the exit of Washington, Mahaska and Wapello counties was taken. Bruce Hudson, executive director of RUSS, tells KCII News that while there was no action taken he believes the matter will be discussed at future meetings and that the counties are working toward a solution. He added “time will tell” whether all of the counties will be in agreement.

Jack Seward, Washington County Supervisor who sits on the RUSS board, recently stated the drafted agreement would have the exiting counties pay five years of the current operating dues, which is $68,250 total. The exit agreement is on the agenda for Tuesday’s supervisors’ meeting.
