Now that Christmas is behind us, those living in Washington County have opportunities to dispose of their trees. On Monday, homeowners in Kalona, Riverside and Lone Tree can get rid of their trees by placing them next to their regular trash. According to  Johnson County Refuse, the company that collects trash in those cities, the trees are taken to the Iowa City landfill to be composted. Over in Wellman, residents will need to purchase a $3 tag at city hall, and place their trees next to their garbage before it’s collected on Friday.

Trees in the City of Washington may be disposed of in Central Park. Also, trees may be placed on the corner of residential blocks for pick up. Trees should be placed so that they do not obstruct views or access to fire hydrants. Also, due to the holiday Thursday, garbage and recycling in Washington that is usually picked up on Thursday will be picked up on Friday.
