A senior of the Columbus Wildcat girls basketball team (6-2 overall; 5-2 overall) is near to top of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North division in scoring.Through eight games this season, senior post player Kelsey Pretz has scored 165 points for the Wildcats, an average of 20.6 points per game. Pretz currently sits second in the conference in points scored this season, trailing Mediapolis senior Andrea Larson by a point for the top scorer in the first half of the season.

Columbus girls basketball coach Kasey Keltner says Pretz has benefited from playing three years of varsity basketball. “She got to play as a sophomore with some good senior leaders and had a chance to learn more about the game.” Keltner said, “Last season as a junior, she got to play with a very good senior point guard who got the ball to her in positions where she didn’t need to much to score.”

Pretz has scored 19 or more points in a game five times this season, and scored 31 points on two separate occasions. The Columbus Wildcat girls’ basketball team resumes play on Jan. 6, 2015, in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference contest with the Mediapolis Bullettes at Mediapolis High School.
